One of the important decisions on which our lifelong happiness and satisfaction depends is the right choice of career. When I say 'right' choice, I mean doing something that you love doing, and which you do not mind doing everyday, without getting bored. Call me crazy, but I left my previous job because I found it utterly boring and monotonous and I just could not continue doing anything where there is no learning. At the end of the day you should not feel at a loss of energy, thats what I want.
Realization does not come easy or early, for many. Well, thats what happened to me. I realized late, but hasn't someone said that "Better late than never". I have since long, loved reading; travelling being one of my other love. During my college days I used to spend most of my time reading novels (with the exception of the month before and during exams). And if am not reading, I would be coaxing people to go trekking with me. Even though I loved reading, I did not know if I could get it as a career. A job where I would be required to read all that I want to, with the added bonus of travelling to all the places that I want to ( I can be this crazy!). Creating jobs out of imagination!!
So after a long long break, now that I am back in B'lore, I think about the big question everybody will ask me, "What are you doing these days?". The truest answer will be that I am trying to figure that out myself. What do I really want to do? What will keep me occupied yet full of energy the whole day? What do I love doing? What is that that will give me the 'job satisfaction' that I have always been hearing about? What do I want to do? Yeah I know, that's a lot of questions to answer for a little being like me!! After much thinking, or rather brainstorming, or torturing those tiny grey cells sitting tight in the bone cage in my head, I came to a conclusion. Which was, I still didn't know! I just could not think straight. Confusion ruled.
Things don't stay the same for long. So I believe. I came across a site where they needed travel writers. The traveler, the nomad, the vagabond in me was shaken awake. I have always been a travel enthusiast, always game for trips and vacations, a wannabe globe trotter. Thats when I thought why not give it a try. I thought why not be a virtual travel guide for a start, to get a taste of travelling across the globe, virtually!
I am happy that I have given it a shot. Lets see where it takes me. A biochemist to a travel writer, doesn't sound bad. Realization I say!!
